“FINDING A PURPOSE”

Hey there fellow investor, I’m Anesia Joseph, the founder of The GT Investor. My mission? To bridge the gap between Guyana and its overseas counterpart, with a focus on the financial well-being of Guyanese and Guyanese Americans.

Over the years, I’ve realized how much the Guyanese diaspora supports their families back home—sending money and eventually planning to retire in Guyana, where the favorable currency conversion lets them live pretty comfortably.

A Bit About Me and My Love for Art

As an educator with eight years of experience, I know what it’s like to stretch a $500 USD monthly paycheck. It’s been a challenge—juggling bills, giving back to the church, saving, and somehow leaving room for those unexpected expenses that always seem to pop up. Honestly, it was a headache more often than not.

But beyond finance and education, I’m also an artist at heart. Art has always been my go-to for inspiration and solace, giving me a creative outlet to express my thoughts and emotions. Funny enough, the discipline and creativity I’ve learned through art have really shaped how I approach financial planning and investing. It’s taught me to appreciate the bigger picture while focusing on the details that lead to long-term success.

I’ve spent a lot of time reading about mindset, and one thing stands out to me: "A change of mindset and the cultivation of new skills are key to creating financial freedom." Growing up in Linden, Guyana, money wasn’t a topic we discussed at home, and that lack of financial awareness left me feeling pretty insecure.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, I became the first in my family to graduate from the University of Guyana—glory be to God.

The Inspiration Behind The GT Investor

During my time in academia, I noticed something. There’s a lot of emphasis on becoming a worker and managing other people’s assets. But I kept thinking, "What about yours? How do we create and maintain wealth as young entrepreneurs?" That’s what led me to focus on helping those with side hustles who want to turn their passion into their main gig and preserve their wealth.

In Guyanese society, we value earning and saving, but saving alone won’t get you to financial freedom. You might save a few hundred thousand dollars—but then what? It’s all about bridging the gap between saving and investing, making your money work for you, and getting one step closer to financial independence.

And let’s be real: banks are great for saving, but they don’t offer much in the way of high returns. They loan your money out and pocket the interest. Crazy, right? So, what’s the alternative? There are other marketplaces out there that can give you more bang for your buck.

Our Mission

For all the future entrepreneurs and wealth creators out there, we get it. We’re living in a two-gig economy, where one job just isn’t enough to fund our big dreams and ventures. That’s why we created The GT Investor community platform. We’re here to boost financial awareness among Guyanese and Guyanese Americans, diving into financial history, wealth creation, market trends, and investment opportunities in both Guyana and the U.S.

At The GT Investor, we’re committed to guiding you over that learning curve and getting you to the other side—toward financial freedom.
